Darwin's God

Interesting article from the NYTimes. Kind of goes along the lines of the latest book I've been reading The Moral Animal. Some thought-provoking concepts.

I wish I had more time to read....

In the last year or so especially, my view on "god" has changed significantly. I re-read this article today and find it much less impressive than I did initially. Confirmation bias can be real thing. The issue I have is that most of the arguments in this article are regarding Religion in general (specifically how humans evolved the capacity to be religious) and then moves on to a religious view of God. However, the "God" written about here is very much the man-in-the-sky Christian one. When I first posted this, I of course agreed entirely. Now, not so much. I still don't believe in a Christian God (which is mainly why I'm hesitant to recant my "atheist" label). However, as I mentioned at the top, my view on what is "God" has changed dramatically. Reading the article with my current spiritual perspective in mind, it's really just a bunch of "blah, blah, blah" and doesn't really answer any core questions for me.

So in short, if you're a classic modern atheist, it's a good article. If you're a classic Christian, it'll probably raise some hairs. If you've traveled down a path of mindfulness hoping to find enlightenment here, it misses the mark entirely.
